Mee looking for the edge at Everton
Ben Mee is looking to edge another chess match in the Premier League when the Clarets take on Everton at Goodison Park.
The defender has pitted his wits against an eclectic mix of strikers in the top flight this term and has had to find different ways to get the better of them.
Middlesbrough’s Rudy Gestede posed an aerial threat at the Riverside at the weekend, though Mee walked away with a clean sheet, and now the former Manchester City man is up against the pace and power of Romelu Lukaku.
“It’s funny because you see the size of me but I like to get involved and mix it a little bit with the taller lads,” he said. “It’s part of the game and they try to find a way to gain the advantage.
“Fortunately it doesn’t always work out like that which is nice.
“You’ve got to be clever against big lads and I’ve learned more and more as I’ve played the game and got that experience. You get a knack for doing things like that.
“He (Lukaku) is a top player and a top goalscorer so we’ll have to try and keep him quiet.
“I’m sure we’ll do that because we’ve come up against him before and we’ve come up against many strikers that are in his category and in his league so it’ll be a good challenge for us.”
