MATCH PREVIEW: Burnley v Bristol City

IT’S been somewhat of a hokey-cokey season for the Clarets as the curtain is set to close on yet another campaign.

Players have come in and players have gone out during the club’s transitional period. In total 12 players, including loan signings, have joined the Turf Moor ranks over 2011/12 while 35, including youngsters, have either been released, sold or loaned out since last season’s culmination.

In terms of form, Eddie Howe’s side have put one leg in towards the play-off pack but inconsistency in performances and results saw them take it back out. Uncharacteristically the Clarets picked up more points on the road than at home with a ratio of 29-32, and as a result they sit 12th in the Championship with a 10th place finish the best they can hope for.

A few weeks ago final day opponents Bristol City were in the relegation mire, but Robins boss Derek McInnes guided the Ashton Gate club to a late revival, while Portsmouth’s, Coventry’s and Doncaster Rovers’s fate has already been confirmed.

Sought after striker Jay Rodriguez, who has been absent since the 1-0 defeat to Ipswich Town, may be back in contention to make the 16-man squad while the likes of Cameron Howieson, Shay McCartan, Steven Hewitt and Joe Jackson will all be vying for a place on the bench. Andre Amougou has returned to Turf Moor following his recent loan with Bristol City.

Kick-off is 12-30 p.m. at Turf Moor.
