Lukas Jutwiewicz could have had a penalty on Saturday after he appeared to be wrestled to the floor by Birmingham's Jonathan Spector

The 26-year-old’s claim came in the aftermath of the 2-2 draw against Birmingham City at Turf Moor where Blues hitman Clayton Donaldson was awarded a highly contentious spot kick.

The incident involving Tendayi Darikwa, which resulted in Paul Caddis converting from the spot in the 63rd minute, was penalised by David Coote despite the match official ignoring claims from the hosts in the opening minutes of the Championship fixture.

Jutkiewicz moved goal side of Jonathan Spector to meet Ben Mee’s cross, but was wrestled to ground by the defender before goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak claimed possession.

“I don’t want to be throwing myself down at every opportunity but at the same time if that’s what it takes to get a referee’s attention you can understand why some players do lean that way,” said Jutkiewicz, who also had penalty appeals ignored against Leeds United at Elland Road.

“You don’t want to encourage that sort of play. You want honest players but at the same time if it needs a player to put themselves on the ground in order to get a foul then it does encourage it. But I wouldn’t condone that.”
