Burnley picked up another three points to aid their push for European football qualification with their 1-0 win over West Ham United earlier in the week, and will head into their weekend clash against Liverpool full of optimism.

Writing for BBC Sport, pundit Mark Lawrenson has predicted a 2-0 win for Reds, but offered some words of praise for the Clarets.

Lawro claimed: "With three wins and a draw from their past four games, Burnley are doing brilliantly, especially when you consider how depleted Sean Dyche's squad is.

"But I see their good run ending when they go to Anfield. Liverpool will find it far harder to break Burnley down than it was against Brighton in midweek, but I think the end result will be the same - a Reds win.”

Meanwhile, Lawrenson's opponent for the week, The Manor's Scotty Stacks, also tipped a Liverpool win, opting for a 2-1 scoreline.

He argued: "Liverpool will win, but Burnley are a stubborn, stubborn side. Their manager Sean Dyche has been touted to take over at (Crystal) Palace a couple of times and I have no idea why anyone would say no to him getting the job.

"Look what he has done at Burnley with a net spend of about £4.50 since he has been there."

The last time the two team met, back in August, the Reds ran out comfortable 3-0 winners, as a Chris Wood own-goal, and strikes from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino sealed the win for Jurgen Klopp's side.
