Writing his midweek predictions for BBC Sport, pundit Mark Lawrenson backed the Citizens to pick up a comfortable 2-0 win on the road.

Justifying his pick, the ex-Republic of Ireland international claimed: "Burnley were a bit subdued against Chelsea on Sunday and maybe their efforts against Aston Villa and Liverpool in the past few days caught up with them.

"This will be another tough evening for the Clarets - City have got a great record against them recently, winning their past seven meetings, and Pep Guardiola's side are playing well at the moment. They keep on winning too."

Meanwhile, Lawro's sparring partner for the midweek matches, Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett, tipped the visitors to cruise to a 3-0 win

He stated: "Manchester City are in form and favourites to win the title, so this could be three, four or even five-nil."
