The centre back scored his first goal at Turf Moor since January 2015 when heading home Robbie Brady's corner in the 32nd minute.

Sean Dyche's side leapfrogged Brighton in the Premier League table as a result, following the Seagulls' defeat at home to Arsenal.

Sheffield United, meanwhile, are now without a win in their first 16 games and remain bottom of the league with two points.
