Keane could stay yet - Garlick

Keane is expected to leave Turf Moor this summer, with former club Manchester United looking like his most likely destination.

But, with a year to go on his contract, unless any deal is in the Clarets' best interests, Burnley are happy to lose what could be a fee in the region of £25m, with vast sums of Premier League prize money available if Keane stays and helps the club preserve their top-flight status for a third season.

Burnley have no need to sell any of their crown jewels and Garlick said: "If we want to keep players, we'll keep them.

"Let's roll it forward a year, what's the prize for staying up again?

"Another £120-130m?

"So if we miss out on one or two fees and get that, I know what I'd take."

Burnley spent around £32m over the last transfer windows and Garlick admits there will be more available for Sean Dyche, whether Keane is sold or not: “In terms of fees, transfer fees, there's probably more money available for next season than there was last.

"You would hope because there's more money available we could improve slightly on where we are."

And he feels the club will be more attractive after sealing survival, after moving into a new £10.6m training ground: “Yes. The training ground should have a big impact but also just surviving and stay in the Premier League.

"Last summer everyone had written us off before we'd kicked a ball, now people are thinking, 'Burnley, hang on, they did well, they stayed there, they were out of the bottom three for nearly all of the season', so that's going to have a positive impact on our recruitment, for sure. That doesn't make it easier..."
