Mike Jackson given Burnley team selection dilemma ahead of players' final games

That’s according to Burnley’s interim boss Mike Jackson, who has revealed further complications in the defender’s rehabilitation.

The 25-year-old hasn’t made a competitive appearance in almost two-and-a-half years, with his last outing coming against Aston Villa in December 2023.

The German was initially kept out with a long-standing knee problem that required two surgeries, before suffering hamstring issues upon his return.

While he made a brief return last summer in a pre-season friendly, Beyer has since been nowhere to be seen.

When asked for an update on Beyer’s progress, or lack of it, Jackson said: “That's still ongoing with Jordan. It's still ongoing because he had a few complications with that.

“So, hopefully, just for himself, if we can get him back ready for some part in pre-season, I think that's the main thing.

“I think it's just baby steps with him at this moment in time to make sure, if we do get him back on the pitch, that he can stay on it.”

Elsewhere on the injury front, Connor Roberts could make his first cameo of the season having recently made a return from an Achilles problem.

The Welshman played 45 minutes during the Under-21s’ Premier League Cup final win over Sunderland.

“He came through that alright,” Jackson said.

“He's been involved with training, full training this week, so yeah, he's good. He's come through his injury stuff and he's fine.”

Maxime Esteve should be fit to feature against Wolves on Sunday despite feeling a tight hamstring against Arsenal, while Josh Cullen remains sidelined with an ACL injury.
