Jones hails Dyche’s impact at Turf Moor

Dyche celebrates three years at the helm today, having made huge strides on and off the pitch in 36 months.

After winning promotion to the Premier League in 2014, and suffering the blow of relegation, Burnley are well placed to earn a return.

And, ahead of Saturday’s visit of Huddersfield Town, Jones hailed the impact of the man who signed him on a free transfer in the summer of 2013: “It’s obvious for everyone to see what the club has done in the last few years since the manager came in.

“Something has been built here. I think the club’s moving forward and the team’s moving forward.

“Although we wanted to stay in the division last year I still think we’ve moved forward and we’re still progressing as a team and a squad, and credit has to go down to the manager and his staff.

“Perhaps his personality and mentality reflects in the team.

“That’s what a manager wants.

“It’s something the staff and the manager have built and hopefully we can continue it.

“It doesn’t guarantee anything, but it makes sure that you’re in games.

“We know that to be a top team the traits are that you don’t know when you’re beaten, no matter what happens. You keep going.

“If we go a goal or two down or if we’re winning we just keep playing the same.”

And Jones feels there is more to come, in terms of performance, despite only suffering one defeat in their last 10 games: “Definitely. We’ve had some ins and outs and we’ve been playing some good football, but I think there is still more to come and I think the manager and the team are looking to find that.

“It’s still relatively early days in the season and we’re still building going into a busy period towards Christmas, and then see where we’re at.

“It’s key in any division to get some momentum and get a run going.

“Once we got beat by Reading we still managed to kick again and put in a decent run of results since then.

“It’s how you respond really. If you want to be challenging at the top of the league you need to bounce back from the disappointments, which is what we’re good at I think and it’s what the manager speaks to us about.

“We don’t dwell on disappointments and that’s been part of our success over the last few years.

“It comes from the manager and the staff, what they’ve built.

“In every season you have people leaving and people coming in.

“As long as we’ve got that core belief, which seems to be something that has grown with us, it’s not something you can easily lose.”
