With fans still not able to attend games in person because of ongoing restrictions aimed at curbing the Coronavirus pandemic, the overwhelming majority of spectators have been given no option but to watch the action from the comfort of their own homes.
At the beginning of the campaign, that alternative was aided by the continuation of last season’s policy to screen all matches, regardless of kick-off time, on one of the usual viewing platforms – either Sky Sports, BT Sport, Amazon Prime, or occasionally the BBC.
From mid-October, however, fans have been charged £14.95 per game for the privilege of watching fixtures that were not already chosen for broadcast.
After widespread backlash, the Premier League are set to review the current policy during next month’s international break, but by that point we will have had four rounds of top flight matches, with supporters of some clubs having to pay a total of almost £60 to watch their side in action over the course of that period.
The allegation from some quarters has been that PPV matches have disproportionately hit fans of smaller clubs, with the likes of Everton and Manchester City still yet to have a game broadcast from behind a paywall – and the data certainly seems to support that claim.
Here is how much fans of each Premier League club will have had to cough up to follow their team before the relevant authorities are next scheduled to review pay-per-view:
