For the third time in succession Sean Dyche's side opened up a two-goal lead at the Theatre of Dreams, but this time they held out to claim three points. Chris Wood scored his 10th goal of the season when beating David De Gea at his near post in the 39th minute. Jay Rodriguez then thumped the ball home off the underside of the crossbar in front of the Stretford End before the hour.
5. Ben Mee 9
The skipper was like a magnet at the heart of the Clarets defence, getting on the end of every ball United swung into the box. Claimed another assist when winning the header for Wood's opener.
6. Jeff Hendrick 8
Another workmanlike display from the Republic of Ireland international. Ran himself into the ground, constantly busting a gut to get behind the ball when United broke. He was tidy when getting on the ball as well.
7. Dwight McNeil 8
Tracked the runners really well down his side in support of Taylor, particularly in the second half after the Clarets pair were stretched in the first. Always carries a threat and travelled with the ball extremely well to ease the pressure.
8. Jack Cork 8
Popped up in every part of the pitch, either showing for the ball and linking play or pressing the opposition. More than played his part in a historic night at Old Trafford.
