Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has emphasised the important role that he believes Edinson Cavani will play for his side over the course of the second half of the season ahead of their trip to face Burnley on Tuesday evening.

The Uruguayan will be available for the Reds again after serving a three-game FA ban for using racist language in an Instagram post last month.

The 33-year-old has made quite the impact at Old Trafford this season after signing from PSG on a free transfer over the summer, scoring four goals and assisting two more in the early exchanges of the campaign.

And Solskjaer believes that the South American can be a key figure for United as they look to challenge for the Premier League title this term.

Speaking in a press conference on Monday, the Norwegian manager said: "Edinson has trained well when he's been banned.

"He's had a couple days off. He is ready to go.

"He gives us a different option. I'm glad to have him back, that's why we brought him in.

"He's contributed so far.

"He'll be really important for us until the end of the season."

United know that anything but a loss against Burnley will be enough to take them above Liverpool at the summit of the Premier League table.

As for the Clarets, they will be looking to build on their narrow 1-0 win over Sheffield United in their last top flight outing, and a win would be enough to open up an eight-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone.
