Sean Dyche, after the Clarets’ 2-0 defeat at Chelsea, poured cold water over fans’ hopes of an exciting finish to the winter market.
He told the Clitheroe Advertiser: "I think it's unlikely (new signings), you never know, but there are a few situations we're attempting to get involved with.
"The parameters of the club aren't going to be radically shifted I don't think, not at this stage, over time it might look different, but we'll have to wait and see.”
Maybe, just maybe, Dyche’s “wait and see” comment was in reference to the latest speculation surrounding Stoke City defender Nathan Collins.
According to The Sun’s transfer guru Alan Nixon, the Clarets have seen a new and improved offer of £7.5million turned down for the 19-year-old.
Indeed, it was reported last week that Burnley had bid £5million for the Irishman, but the Potters ‘laughed off’ their offer.
Meanwhile, Matej Vydra’s future is again under the spotlight with Championship promotion hopefuls Bournemouth and Watford interested in his services.
As per the same publication, the duo are keen on an initial loan, which would be made permanent if promotion to the Premier League is secured.
Dyche’s stance on the Czech Republic international is unclear. He started yesterday’s loss at Stamford Bridge, though that was just his second of the league campaign.
Meanwhile, there is a big update on the short-term future of Everton’s Jonjoe Kenny, a player regularly linked with the Clarets this month.
Here’s a round-up of some of the other deadline day rumours involving Burnley, including Kenny, and their top-flight rivals this morning:
