Burnley transfer news: Sean Dyche handed boost in free agent pursuit as pundit tips Clarets target to join Premier League rivals
Ahmed Musa’s move to West Bromwich Albion is reportedly OFF – which could be good news for Burnley.
It was reported by the Daily Mail earlier this week that the Clarets, alongside Brighton and Hove Albion, Southampton and CSKA Moscow, were keeping tabs on the Nigerian’s situation.
Musa, formerly of Leicester City, was training with the Baggies and it was believed he would sign a contract until the end of the season following his release from Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.
If not, it was claimed the four clubs mentioned above were willing to make Musa an offer or invite him in to train with them instead.
Now that opportunity has arisen as it is Birmingham Live’s understanding that West Brom have opted against signing him.
Musa was understood to be deemed fit but the Baggies feel they already have stronger players in his position
Meanwhile, reported Burnley target John Lundstram has been tipped to join Leeds United when his contract expires at Sheffield United this summer.
Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan believes a move to Turf Moor would suit the 26-year-old “down to the ground”, but former Scotland full-back Alan Hutton has thrown another name into the mix.
“Is he going to go to a top-ten team? I’m not sure, it’s a difficult one,” he told Football Insider.
“Sitting here, I don’t really think there’s any team that I could go: ‘He’s definitely going to go there.’ Leeds United, somewhere like that, where he can get up pitch and attack, they like to flood forward, would he suit someone like that?
“I’m pretty positive that there’ll be a few teams keeping a close eye on his situation anyway, that’s for sure.”
Here’s a round-up of the latest gossip doing the rounds across the Premier League:
