Burnley monitor £1.5m-rated defender as striker names Liverpool as possible destination
Celtic defender Jack Hendry is reportedly attracting interest from three Premier League clubs – including Burnley.
The Scotland defender has spent time away from Parkhead this season at Belgian outfit K.V. Oostende and it appears to have done him the world of good.
Hendry has made just 27 appearances for the Hoops following his £1.5million move from Dundee in January 2018.
The 25-year-old’s time at Australian outfit Melbourne City last January was cut short due to a knee ligament injury but the Scotland international has bounced with a string of man of the match performances in Belgium.
Oostende are keen to keep him on a permanent basis but admirers from the Premier League in the form of the Clarets, Brighton and Sheffield United have emerged, as per the Daily Mail.
One major stumbling is Oostende have an option to turn his loan into a permanent deal – as confirmed by sporting director Gauthier Ganaye.
Ganaye told GlasgowLive: “We have a loan with a purchase option.
"If we take that option and we can convince him, he will stay with us longer. Then we have to see what we can do for each other.
"In any case, Jack feels good about himself here.
"Given his excellent performances, I hope that we can convince him that KVO is the step for him to the national team and to a further beautiful football future. ”
The Celtic hierarchy are due to make a decision over Hendry’s future this summer. Indeed, it could all depend on the club’s new manager, who is yet to be appointed, and his plans for the 6ft4 Scotsman.
Burnley are assessing their options with James Tarkowski thought to be considering his future at the end of the season.
