The Clarets picked up their first win of the season against Crystal Palace on Monday evening, and moved clear of the drop zone by a point, with a game in hand over the teams beneath them.

Chris Wood’s early strike was enough to secure all three points for Sean Dyche’s side, who were also boosted by a second consecutive league start from defensive stalwart Ben Mee.

And following on from that valuable result at Turf Moor, former Aston Villa forward Agbonlahor believes that Burnley can use it as a foundation on which they can build some momentum.

When asked whether the Clarets would be a Premier League side next season on Sky Sports News’ Football Show, he said: “100%. I look at that Burnley side, even yesterday, the way they played.

"They’ve got good players in midfield – Westwood, I really like the way Lowton played yesterday. If they can keep Ben Mee fit, keep the two strikers up top fit, I think they’ll be fine.

"You look at the likes of Sheffield United, they can’t buy a win, even a draw at the moment. You look at West Brom, who aren’t getting results, and you look at Fulham, who can’t get a result.

"I do think there are three worse teams than Burnley this season.”

Monday’s win over Palace wasn’t just the Clarets’ first of the season, but also the first time they have picked up any points at Turf Moor this term.
