Inspiration Josh short-listed

Josh Walne, from Burnley, has been shortlisted for a Burnley Leisure Community Sports Award after inspiring people across the UK.

The Nelson footballer and England Under 21 Learning Disability Team captain, 21, has been nominated for the Service to Disability Award after taking on two new roles aimed at inspiring people to take up sport and overcome perceived barriers.

The former Burnley and Blackburn Rovers trainee, has recently started coaching for the Danny Ings Disability Sports Project and is also volunteering as an athlete ambassador for UK Sports Association’s My Sport, My Voice! programme.

Walne said: “I am really proud to have been nominated for the Burnley Leisure Community Sports Award.

“I love doing volunteer work for the Danny Ings Disability Sports Project, especially working with and coaching all the great kids there.

“I’m also delighted to be a My Sport, My Voice! Ambassador.”
