Burnley players react after Hull City's Abel Hernandez scored his sides second goal

The first half was a tight affair, with little in the way of clear cut chances.

But after the break, the Tigers took charge with goals from Jake Livermore, Abel Hernandez and Sam Clucas to end a run of five-successive Clarets wins at the KC Stadium.

Hull had the first sight of goal as Mo Diame cut inside and wrapped his left foot around the ball from 25 yards, forcing Tom Heaton to make a plunging save to his right.

Burnley enjoyed a lot of possession at the back, but the lack of space in midfield saw them look longer for Sam Vokes and Andre Gray, but Curtis Davies and Harry Maguire were in control at the back for the Tigers.

Maguire forced Heaton to tip over a header from a Clucas corner just before the half hour, as Hull threatened again.

But Burnley were denied what looked a clear free kick in a promising position on the edge of the box as Vokes was brought down by Maguire, with Mark Clattenburg ignoring appeals.

George Boyd, back at his old club, drilled a free kick at Allan McGregor, but in a half of few chances, the sides went in goalless.

City broke the deadlock 12 minutes after the restart as Clucas got a lucky break after being held up by Matt Lowton, and his cross went over Joey Barton to Livermore, who volleyed into the corner.

Shortly after, another former Tiger Dean Marney's cross was cut out, Andre Gray lashed a great opening horribly wide.

And the Clarets were made to pay when £10m Uruguayan striker Abel Hernandez cut inside from right and fired left footed into the far corner.

Substitute Rouwen Hennings, on for Gray, twice fizzed efforts wide as Burnley looked for a way back into the game, but they were well beaten at the final whistle as Clucas rounded off a miserable afternoon with a third from close range.
