The 23-year-old, who signed for Liverpool in the summer, suffered a cruciate ligament injury in his first training session under new Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp, just days after making his England bow when replacing Harry Kane in the 59th minute of the final Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania.

Ings netted his first goal for the Reds in a 1-1 draw with Norwich City in the Premier League last month before netting twice more in a Capital One Cup tie against Carlisle United and again in the Merseyside derby against Everton at Goodison.
