Fee fixed for Burnley’s George Porter

THE Clarets have been instructed to pay an initial £90,000 for winger George Porter.

A Football League transfer tribunal set the fee after Burnley were unable to agree a deal with Leyton Orient for the 20-year-old when he moved to Turf Moor earlier this summer.

The O’s will receive further instalments, which could rise to £70,000, linked to the appearances he makes during his stay at Turf Moor.

And the Clarets will also make a further payment of £100,000 if Porter plays 23 games in helping win promotion to the Premier League during the length of his contract.

The right-sided player signed a three-year deal with the Clarets at the start of July after reaching the end of his existing contract with the League One side, which was due a compensation fee due to the player’s age.

Porter previously made 39 first-team appearances for Orient after signing from non-league side Cray Wanderers in May, 2010.

Orient will also receive a sell-on fee if the Clarets make a future profit on the Sidcup-born player.
