Premier League and Championship clubs enter the fray for the first time, with lower league and non-league sides desperate to earn a money-spinning draw.

While Burnley’s focus is very much on Premier League survival, a third round tie could make for a nice distraction from their recent league woes which has seen them lose their last six on the bounce.

Last season Burnley reached the fifth round of the competition, before being knocked out by Lancashire rivals Preston North End after changing their entire starting XI.

Scott Parker has also made wholesale changes in the Carabao Cup this season, resulting in the defeat to League One side Cardiff City in September.

Here’s everything you need to know about the fifth round draw:

Third round ties will be drawn on Monday, December 8 prior to the second round tie between Brackley Town and Burton Albion. The draw is scheduled to take place at around 6.40pm.

How can I watch?

The draw will be televised live on TNT Sports 1 and discovery+, but will also be streamed on the TNT Sports YouTube channel.

Darren Fletcher and Ally McCoist will present the coverage while the draw will be made by Joe Cole and Peter Crouch.

When do third round ties take place?

Third round fixtures will take place across the weekend of January 10/11. For Burnley, the game will follow a midweek clash at Turf Moor against Manchester United, while they travel to Anfield the following weekend to take on Liverpool.

Who are the lowest ranked sides left?

The lowest ranked side left in the competition is Weston-super-Mare, who play their football in the National League South.

They beat Chelmsford City in the second round over the weekend to seal their spot in tonight’s draw.

Other non-league sides include National League North Macclesfield, as well as Boreham Wood.

Brackley Town can also join them with a win over Burton Albion this evening.
