Eddie Howe quits Turf

EDDIE HOWE has quit Turf Moor to join League One AFC Bournemouth.

After hours of wrangling over compensation, the two clubs finally agreed a deal on Friday afternoon which sees Howe and assistant Jason Tindall return to their old stomping ground.

The move came after days of speculation surrounding the future of Howe who was reportedly keen to move back to the South coast for ‘family reasons’.

His departure has sparked a wave of speculation as to who will take over the Turf Moor hotseat. Early favourite with the bookmakers is former Turf boss Owen Coyle who left to join rivals Bolton in acrimonious circumstances. While he may head the betting charts, a return to Turf Moor looks unlikely given the reception Coyle received at Turf Moor earlier this season.

Other names already being linked are former Clarets favourite Mickey Mellon, manager of new Football League side Fleetwood Town and Manchester United number two Mike Phelan who has strong links to the Turf Moor club and the surrounding area.
