Dyche: 'We must create more away from home'

Clarets boss Sean Dyche admits his side are not creating as many chances as they would like away from home.

Burnley suffered a third defeat in five games, as they went down 3-0 at Hull City on Boxing Day.

And Tigers keeper Allan McGregor didn't have a save of note to make in the 90 minutes.

The Clarets have now failed to score in their last three away games, and Dyche admitted: "Away from home we haven't made as many chances, at home, we look likely to score every time we play.

"We spoke to the players about that coming into the game, and mentioned it at half-time, that cutting edge in the top third.

"There is a balance to it, and their back four, every one was £3.5m apiece or something like that, and they're no mugs, and I thought their two centre halves were excellent.

"But we pride ourselves in being productive, stopping them at one end, and putting them in at the other, and we haven't done that today.

"It's not a walkover from their point of view, and I know Steve knows that, but we didn't create enough to get something from the game, apart from one golden chance, and Rouwen (Hennings) had a couple of maybes at the end.

"We need to create more, particularly on the road, at home, we've been scoring pretty well."

The first half was a right affair, with neither side dominating, but once Hull got their noses in front, it was uphill for Burnley: "I think until the first goal, there wasn't much in it, and after that, we had the best chance of the game, and we didn't take it.

"Goals change games, not just the scoreline, the feel, and they knew it, the whole stadium knew it, and they responded and got the second goal.

"We had to throw caution to the wind and the third is irrelevant after that.

"But the second goal was real killer.

"We can defend the first two goals better, but both were marvellous strikes, real moments of clarity from two decent players.

"You have to get on the right side of the margins, and we haven't over the last run of games.

"Performance-wise, not radical shifts in it in terms of the opposition, whoever we've played.

"Taking chances, we haven't taken as many as we would have liked.

"Creating chances, mostly, particularly at home, not as much away.

"And defensively, a few ones have gone in a bit too easy."

Dyche added: "We've had a couple of twists of fate go against us, which we've had corrected by the assessor, it's important to know you're not just seeing things - but other than that, we've definitely got to take care of business ourselves, and we haven't done that as much as we'd like, apart from last week at home, when we were terrific against Charlton.

"We sort of showed signs here, but weren't productive enough in the top third.

"We were quiet across the front four, who are normally productive, the same people who were creating and scoring last week.

"It's the golden question I suppose, players ups and downs, the ins and outs of being a footballer I suppose."
