There have been stories in the national media Derby boss Steve McClaren is expected to leave the iPro Stadium in the summer, regardless of whether the Rams are promoted, with Newcastle United his likely destination.

And reports suggested Derby believe Dyche could be tempted by a move to a club whose average gate of 29,000 is 10,000 more than Burnley’s.

However, Burnley beat Derby to second place and a place in the Premier League last season, and McClaren’s men currently sit fifth in the Championship, six points off former Clarets boss Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth, who lead the way with five games remaining.

And Dyche said: “I think it’s quite obvious the way I work here, I’m enjoying the challenge, I’m not looking further afield, simple as that.

“Someone needs a story somewhere.

“Its just football, that’s been going on for years, it’s maybe gets enhanced more nowadays.

“I remember reading when I was a kid, so and so is going there, I think it happens all the time, different levels, different jobs, it’s just when you are in the Premier League it is more openly available through the media.”
