Cyclists set for Harry Potts Way

Burnley have launched their charity cycle challenge for 2016, The Harry Potts Way.

The three-day, 160 mile ride is a homage to the late, great Burnley legend.

The bike ride will encompass a number of clubs that played a significant role in both Potts’ playing and managerial career.

Starting at Shrewsbury Town on the morning of Thursday, April 28th, the route will cross the 60 miles to Everton.

On Friday, April 29th, cyclists will travel 50 miles to Blackpool, before finishing at the last home game of the season at Turf Moor, on Saturday, April 30th.

The cycle ride is in aid of Burnley FC in the Community, Burnley FC’s official registered charity.

Speaking on behalf of her family, Linda Webster, daughter of Harry Potts, said “Dad’s life was football and his family. The clubs he served as a player, coach and manager - Burnley, Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Shrewsbury Town, and Blackpool - all held fond memories but in his heart, and Harry was always a Claret.

“The naming of Harry Potts Way was a proud moment for the family and we ask Clarets’ fans and the local community to support this charity event, not only in his honour but also a wonderful period in the history of a great family club,”
