Mr McParland has been offered an opportunity to link up with his close friend north of the border and will be departing the club on Sunday, October 18 to take up his new role.

However the former Liverpool Chief Scout, who admitted he would be leaving Turf Moor with a heavy heart, insisted the Clarets remain in good hands.

He said: “This has been a tough decision, because I completely respect all that Burnley Football Club has done for me in my short time here.

“The management, staff, players and fans have been wonderful in welcoming me into such a tight-knit club.

“However, Mark and I go back a long way. We’ve had a close friendship for nine years or so and we’ve worked together professionally for four or five years now. The lure of joining up with him again was just too great.

“This was never a club decision, because Burnley is a fantastic football club that I’ve been proud to work for.

“But I just couldn’t turn down the opportunity to work with Mark again, so it’s with a heavy heart that I decided to leave.”

Mr McParland, who joined the Clarets in May after working alongside Warburton at Watford and, latterly at Brentford, added: “What Burnley fans need to appreciate is that I was only one quarter of our recruitment team.

“The core of that, which crucially identified and made all the summer signings, remains in place.

“Chief Executive David Baldwin is extremely knowledgeable and competent in negotiating, Chairman Mike Garlick is very hands-on in the whole process and then of course, there’s the manager, Sean Dyche, whose success here speaks volumes.

“All the foundations remain in place and with the right people there to drive it, I know they will continue to make good decisions that benefit the club and continue to take it forwards.

“I wish everyone at Burnley Football Club all the very best and I’m confident the club has a very bright future.”

The Directors and staff at Burnley Football Club would like to thank Frank for all his efforts and wish him well in his future career.
