The former Motherwell man, 18, who will link up with the Development Squad, has signed a two-year at Turf Moor with a further year’s option in the club’s favour. Leitch helped Well to their first ever Scottish Youth Cup with a goal in the 5-2 victory over Hearts back in April at Hampden Park. And the son of former Motherwell and Swindon midfielder Scott says the move was one he simply couldn’t turn down. He said: “I’m delighted to sign here because it’s a club that is really going places and the fact they’re back in the Premier League is great. “It was an easy decision to make because I think Burnley are that big of a club and I can’t wait to get started now. “Hopefully I can play regularly for the U21s this season, and keep progressing to try and challenge for a spot in the first-team as quick as I can. “I’ve got a bit of history in English football as my dad played for Swindon a few years back and hopefully I can do as good as him!” The Swindon-born man followed in his father’s footsteps earlier in his career when he represented North Lanarkshire in the International Children’s Games, something he feels helped him as a youngster. “We went to Canada and it was great to get away and experience my first tournament abroad. “To win it as well was obviously brilliant so that was a good learning curve at such a young age which can hopefully help me in the future.”
