Clarets defender Anderson pens new deal

Burnley-born defender Tom Anderson has today put pen to paper on a new two-year contract, with a further year's option in the club's favour.

Anderson, 22, spent the latter part of the 2015/16 campaign on loan at Sky Bet League One side Chesterfield, making 18 appearances at the heart of defence as they avoided relegation.

He has been at the club since the age of eight and signed professional terms in May 2012 after impressing in the side that reached the FA Youth Cup semi-final.

His first taste of Football League action came during a loan spell at Carlisle United having previously gained experience at Barrow, Lincoln City, Hyde and Halifax.

Last season, he was named on the Clarets’ first-team bench 10 times and is currently with the squad at their training camp in Evian ahead of the new campaign.
