The 33-year-old free agent left Vicarage Road last month after failing to make an appearance for the Hornets this season.

He spent the latter part of last term on loan at Birmingham City, where he provided an assist on his debut in the FA Cup against former club West Brom, before scoring the winner against Charlton Athletic on the penultimate day of the campaign.

He previously enjoyed six years at Leicester City, scoring the goal which sealed the Championship title in 2014, and Clarets boss Sean Dyche said: “Lloyd had come out of his situation at Watford and is very experienced and we still feel he has something to offer.

“He has been involved with two promoted teams, so he brings that experience, but he’s also different to what we already have at the club.

“He is direct and has pace, so he adds a different aspect to our game and the squad.”

Dyche added: “Lloyd hasn’t come here for money; he’s come here to be a part of something and he wanted that challenge.

“He knows that we are going well and he knows it’s not an easy task to get in the team, but that’s the challenge that’s in front of him.”
