Clarets boss wants to end speculation over players

While he hopes to see a couple of fresh faces brought into the club – on a permanent basis – before then, Tindall would like to see an end to speculation linking players with moves away from Turf Moor.

It has been a summer dominated by talk of offers for Burnley’s players, with Chris Eagles, Tyrone Mears and Danny Fox prised away, while Clarke Carlisle, Chris Iwelumo and Graham Alexander also moved on, on top of those released at the end of their contracts.

Jay Rodriguez has been constantly linked with a big-money move – to QPR, Southampton and Newcastle United – with the club admitting they had rejected a £4.5m offer from the Saints.

Andre Amougou has also been attracting headlines, with Rangers and Leicester City rumoured to be suitors, however, the club have revealed there has been no official contact with any club for his services.

And Tindall said: “The transfer window has its distractions, with incomings and outgoings. It’s strange why there is a transfer window, but in a lot of ways it will be pleasing when its closed, because it puts a stop to a lot of speculation about players leaving. Hopefully, by that time, we’ll have one or two new faces as well.

“It doesn’t affect us as bad as people might think, with the emergency loan window as well, but you want to try to bring the players you want in before the window closes, to put a stop to the ones going out. Hopefully, we can keep everyone, and add one or two.”

Amougou started the season in the side, but he was left out at home to Cardiff on Saturday, and only made the bench for Tuesday’s Carling Cup win over Barnet – with David Edgar replacing Michael Duff just before half-time after he picked up a knee problem.

Tindall said: “Andre’s got to be professional, and he is. He’s here every day, he works hard when we’re training, so I should imagine he’ll continue to do that.

“When you are linked with other clubs, it can be a distraction, and it can be difficult, but good professionals just get on with it – it’s part and parcel of football.

“There’s always speculation linking players with other clubs, I think you’ve just got to accept it and work hard.

“Any player, providing they are playing well and working hard, will always be linked with other clubs.”

Burnley have an interest in Stoke City’s Ryan Shotton and West Ham wide man Junior Stanislas – and I understand a loan move for West Brom centre back Craig Dawson remains a possibility.

Tindall added: “We are working on one or two things, but there are obstacles to try to overcome. It’s not all in our hands, we like the players, and it’s a matter of hoping all parties can agree to it. If we can, they will be permanent deals, if not, then maybe they will be loans. But hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.”
