Clarets boss Dyche remains relaxed over transfers

Burnley have made six summer signings, but have so far been frustrated in their efforts to land West Bromwich Albion centre back Craig Dawson and Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury.

The Clarets kick-off their Premier League campaign on Monday night at home to Chelsea, with the transfer deadline on September 1st, and Dyche said: “We’re still in the market, we’re still active, and we’re trying and trying, especially on two or three things that are building.

“We want competition, but I made it clear the team last year brought their own competition on with the way they went about their business.

“It’s an important factor, and they certainly this pre-season have looked like they’re willing to do that again, so we’ve been happy with that.”

Should deals not look like getting over the line in time, Dyche accepts the club will have to look elsewhere: “There’s lot of other work going on because we are aware of that.

“I think you can see why clubs, certainly over he last five to 10 years, have built massive recruitment departments, particularly at the elite level because they want a bigger pool of players to choose from and to purchase from.

“Ours is difficult because we haven’t got that depth of recruitment outside of our own shores. I’ve made it clear many times I honestly couldn’t care where a players from as long as they’re a good player.

“But I’ve never been at a club rich enough to have the proper recruitment to look on depth at (overseas) players.

“We’re building things and changing.

“Obviously with some of the finance that’s available we are putting things in place.

“We have done anyway but we’ve mainly had to concentrate on our own shores rather than going across the water.

“It’s part and parcel of life at Burnley but we are moulding it and trying to re-formulate going forwards.

“But it’s just the nature of deals.

“Deals can come in in many different ways and they can drag and then suddenly pop, or they don’t.

“I’m used to it.

“Everyone is suddenly adding a lot of money on players.

“It is what it is, it’s just the market.

“It’s just like selling your house. If one sells for a few quid down the road, yours is worth more.”
