"We didn't know people cared so much!

"It was a terrible thing.

“There was a really weird vibe, even going to the airport from Euro Disney, and it’s the first time it’s ever been shut.

“It was chaos at the airport and it was scary with our three children there, they weren’t sure why there were so many guns around.

“Going through passport control wasn’t the best but we were just glad to get home in the end."

Team-mate Chris Long was actually present at the Stade de France for the friendly between France and Germany, where two suicide bombers struck, and Boyd admitted: “Longy went to the game. He had it a lot worse than I did.

“He was in the hotel that got evacuated on the Saturday as well, so that was very scary for him."

Boyd is just looking forward to returning to playing football, as Burnley look to end Brighton's unbeaten start to the season on Sunday, in front of the Sky cameras.

It is second versus fourth, and Boyd said:“We’re really confident at the minute and we’re excited for the game.

“As the season’s gone on we’ve grown and our form at the minute is probably one of the best in the league.

“We’re feeling really confident and hopefully it can continue.

“I think Brighton have been one of the surprise packages but they’ve got a good team and good manager. They had a few good signings in the summer and they look strong.

“But we’re looking really strong at home. The crowd, the atmosphere has been brilliant.

“Wolves made the grass longer the other week to stop our threat in behind so it shows that other teams are looking at us. But at home we’re looking really good at the moment."

He added: “It’s up to us to take their unbeaten record on Sunday.

"It’s a big month for us playing teams in and around us so if we come through that it’s going to be a great season.

“The team spirit’s brilliant here and that can get you the extra few points in the season.

“There’s a feelgood factor around the place at the minute."

Boyd admits he hasn't hit the heights of last season personally, and said: “I think there’s more to come. I’d like a few more goals but I’ll concentrate on working hard for the team, and as long as we’re winning I don’t really care."
