The 25-year-old, who featured 10 times for York City in League Two earlier in the season, is the first piece of business to come out of Turf Moor on transfer deadline day.

The Polish-born Australian, who kept three clean sheets in his spell with the Minstermen, made two appearances last term for Sean Dyche’s side.

Cisak was called upon at the AMEX Stadium after Tom Heaton was controversially dismissed by referee Darren Sheldrake in a 2-0 loss to Brighton before helping the Clarets advance in the Capital One Cup with success over rivals Preston North End.

Cisak will fight for the number one spot with Gary Woods after Adam Legzdins was forced out of action with a dislocated shoulder sustained in the Boxing Day win over Crawley Town.
