Chris McCann looking for first home victory

BURNLEY captain Chris McCann is hoping a home win against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday will kick-start their season.

The Clarets are yet to win at Turf Moor in the league this term but McCann is hoping the performance against Southampton will now give them the confidence to go on and pick up them first home three points.

“We’ve been quite sluggish at home and not really had the run of the green. The fans were really up for it on Saturday and that reflected in our performance. There were a lot of positives to take from it.

“We’re looking forward to getting into the game. Everyone is thinking that if we can put in a performance like we did on Saturday then there’s no question in our minds that we’ll take the three points.

“It’s going to be a tough game though. They’ve got a good team and really good strikers. They’re coming off a good win as well so they’ll come here fighting for the three points just like we need it.

“Once we get the first (home) win under our belt then we’ll have got that off our back so three points at home (against Forest) will be very welcome. That could spur us on a bit and get us off up the league and really kick-start our season.”

McCann, who revealed he has been enjoying his role as captain this season so far, said the team were looking to replicate the impressive home form that saw them reach the Premier League.

“Your home form is vital,” he said. “We went into our home games that season sometimes believing we were untouchable. There was no fear and we were going into games full of confidence.

After Saturday’s game I think that is beginning to creep in a bit again now.”
