Here, we take a look at the players linked with joining and leaving Burnley during January, and examine whether any of them could be serious deals:

James Tarkowski

Reports have suggested that James Tarkowski wants to leave Burnley, amid continued interest from West Ham United.

The defender is out of contract at Burnley in the summer of 2022, and talk has suggested he wants to test himself at a higher level.

Indeed, the bookmakers have the England international centre-back priced at 5/1 favourites link up with David Moyes in London.

Liverpool (6/1) and Everton (12/1) round off a three-horse race.

What do we think of this transfer rumour? Unlikely to happen during this window given the money Burnely would ask for but clubs will certainly be monitoring the situation as time ticks by on his contract.

Nathan Collins and Joe Worrall

Burnley have been linked with moves for Stoke City's teenage defender Nathan Collins and Nottingham Forest skipper Joe Worrall.

Reports have suggested Burnley remain keen on the duo but may keep their transfer cash until the summer.

The Clarets have yet to make a signing this window but Dyche did say that Burnley were working on a couple of 'maybes.'

What do we think of these transfer rumours? If Tarkowski does depart during this window, Dyche’s hand may be forced into signing one or both during the winter window. Burnley do need a centre back, whether Tarkowski stays or goes, and either player's signing could represent smart succession planning.

Jimmy Dunne

Preston North End are in search of a defender in the January transfer window and have been linked with Burnley’s ex-Sunderland loanee Jimmy Dunne.

The Clarets centre-back is out of contract at the end of the season and has reportedly been added to Preston North End's emergency loan target list.

Dunne, however, is one of a number of players Burnley are talking to in regards to remaining at Turf Moor.

What do we think of this transfer rumour? Whilst Dunne needs game time, if Burnley were to lose Tarkowski and fail to sign a replacement, they would be short in defence, making Dunne's potential exit reliant on what happens with others during the window.

Josh King

Burnley have emerged as contenders to sign Bournemouth forward Josh King, with the Clarets having made contact with the Cherries over a potential deal.

Indeed, West Ham (2/1), Burnley (5/2), Everton (5/1), West Brom (8/1), Brighton (12/1), Fulham (12/1), Aston Villa (14/1) and Newcastle United (18/1) have all also been linked with a deal by SkyBet.

The Cherries are understood to be willing to listen to offers for King this month, with his contract set to expire in the summer.

What do we think of this transfer rumour? The striker is rumoured to be asking for £120,000-a-week to move back to the Premier League. If Burnley were to sign the former Manchester United man, he would surely have to lower his wage demands. This one feels like it could go down to the wire.

Troy Deeney

The Bookies also continue to link Watford’s Troy Deeney with a move to Turf Moor, with Burnley 12/1 outsiders with SkyBet.

Indeed, there exists clear respect between Dyche and Deeney with the pair having worked together at Watford during his time as assistant manager and manager.

But it remains to be seen whether Deeney would fit the profile if Burnley were looking for a striker, given they already have Chris Wood, Ashley Barnes, Matej Vydra and Jay Rodriguez.

What do we think of this transfer rumour? The link between Deeney and Burnley is an easy one to make given the history between the two.

Andy Carroll

SkyBet are offering odds on Newcastle United’s former Liverpool, West Ham and England international striker Andy Carroll on joining Burnley and West Brom.

The Baggies are priced at 3/1 to conclude a deal for the target man, whilst the Clarets are outside shots at 20/1.

However, reports suggest the Magpies are not likely to entertain any loan offers for the 32-year-old striker during the January transfer window.

What do we think of this transfer rumour? A move for Carroll seems unlikely given the striker is back playing at his boyhood club. The England international is known favourite of under-pressure manager Steve Bruce, who is unlikely to want to lose the big man, especially not to a direct rival.

Jason Knight

Burnley have been linked with a move for Derby County midfielder Jason Knight throughout the January transfer window.

The financial issues at Pride Park have put Burnley's hierarchy on alert over Knight, with the Championship side now reportedly open to selling during the winter window.

Knight’s contract with Derby runs until the summer of 2023.

However, Leeds United have also thrown their hat into the ring to sign Knight, along with his Rams teammate Louie Sibley.

What do we think of this transfer rumour? Rams manager Wayne Rooney did that the starlet will likely be staying put this window, and Burnley have four senior centre midfielders and young starlet Josh Benson. So it looks like it would take someone leaving Turf Moor plus a hefty bid to persuade Derby to part with Knight.
