But Robbie Brady is out after suffering a minor fracture to his rib.

Tarkowski has missed the last two games with what has been described as a toe injury - amid all the speculation linking him with a move away from Turf Moor.

West Ham have had two bids knocked back, the second up to £30m, while Leicester City are believed to have retained an interest in the 27-year-old.

However, Dyche is hoping he will be available at The Den, with Kevin Long and Jimmy Dunne currently his only fit centre back options.

Dyche will make changes to his side, having made three changes from the side that knocked out Sheffield United on penalties, for the opening Premier League game at Leicester: "We got through the first one, I thought we delivered a good performance, a few changes to the team - there might well be that again because we are limited at the moment.

"We can't make massive changes, but we might have James Tarkowski back again, I'm going to confirm that with him today because obviously I've just walked in here and we're training this afternoon then travelling down to London.

"Some of the young players are itching, Jimmy Dunne has played, of course, scored a good goal.

"There's a few that may get a chance."

He added: "It's good in a sense that people are getting a feel for it, the younger players, but it's asking a lot of them to come in and activate straight away in the Premier League, so we need to find that balance going forward.

"Tarky I'll find out more this afternoon, he's got a chance, Barnesy is making really good progress, scored a couple for the Under 23s yesterday, and he certainly looks like he's getting closer.

"Johann won't be days, but it could have been very serious, Ben Mee is not there yet, but making good progress, and Corky is behind them.

"So there are some more positive signs - we do need them fit as quickly as possible, but in a fashion where they can continue and affect us."

Brady joined the absentees after suffering another rib injury at the King Power Stadium: "Robbie has got a bad knock on his ribs and a very minor fracture.

"That doesn't affect the injury, it's not displaced.

"We knew he was struggling, there was a moment when he got one-two'd and couldn't get back, and that's why we took him off.

"It's really about how quickly the pain reduces, but it certainly won't be for tomorrow."
