Burnley striker Ings: We fear no-one
Nine-goal striker Danny Ings sees no reason why Burnley can’t maintain their outstanding start to the season.
The Clarets host Charlton Athletic at Turf Moor on Saturday, lying two points behind leaders QPR in second, having also won through to the last 16 of the Capital One Cup.
Sean Dyche’s men have won eight of their 11 games so far this term, and while he doesn’t have the deepest squad to select from, in terms of numbers, Ings believes Burnley can continue to be the surprise package of the Championship.
After his brace saw off Nottingham Forest in the cup on Tuesday, Ings said: “People can say we’re having a lucky run but it’s not like that at all.
“We’re working hard and showing everybody out there that we can beat anybody.
“If we can keep everybody fit, then we’ve got every chance.
“It happens. We’ve got a great fitness coach who looks after us very well, so I’m sure that we can do that.
“He works with us individually. He does different programmes for everybody’s needs.
“It’s fantastic and it’s showing in how fit we are.
“We’re running over teams at the moment.”
Dyche made four changes on Tuesday night, from the side that won 2-1 at Leeds United on Saturday, and while not quite the 11 alterations Forest made, the likes of David Edgar, Kevin Long, Keith Treacy, Junior Stanislas and substitute Brian Stock showed there are good options within the squad.
Ings added: “We’re going forward as a team. Even the lads who are not starting, there are no disappointments, they’re still being part of the team and we’re all one big family in a way.”
Burnley host Charlton, having not lost at home since March against promoted Hull City - a run of 10 games.
But the Clarets aren’t losing many games full stop at present- Brighton are the only side to beat them this season, in a controversial clash last month, while Burnley have now lost only once in 14 games - with 10 wins.
Ings said: “I didn’t know those sort of stats but obviously it’s good to know.
“We just take every game as it comes and that’s what we’re doing.”
