The Clarets were last in action in a 2-0 win over Ipswich Town on the final day of the 2012/13 season in May with goals coming from Junior Stanislas and Martin Paterson.

But the focus will now switch to the pre-season schedule for the forthcoming campaign with League Two Morecambe first up at the Globe Arena on Tuesday, July 9th, with kick-off at 7-45 p.m. The Clarets will then embark on a training camp in southern Ireland, taking on Cork City at Turners Cross on Monday, July 15th (kick-off 7 p.m.), before travelling to face Carlisle United on Saturday, July 20th (kick-off 3 p.m.) and Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday, July 23rd, with kick-off at 7-45 p.m.

The final preparations for the new season will see the Clarets take on Sparta Rotterdam at Turf Moor on Saturday, July 27th with kick-off at 3-30 p.m.

“The first few days are always interesting to see how they’re looking,” said Dyche. “There’ll be a bit of testing to see how they’re faring physically but players generally look after themselves now so we’re not expecting any shocks. They’ll be ready to go.

“I think they know that pre-season will be enjoyable but there’ll be some work to be done. We’ll build it in slowly because you have to be careful but then we’ll ramp it up as pre-season goes on.”
