The Clarets had over half an hour with a man advantage against their fierce rivals yet were unable to take advantage.
Scott Parker’s side otherwise controlled the game, but lacked quality in the final third and struggled to forge clear-cut chances.
Here’s how Burnley’s players rated:
9. Luca Koleosho - 6/10
Always a threat on his return from injury but the young Rovers full-back dealt with him pretty well. Had a low, deflected effort saved. Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard
10. Jaidon Anthony - 7/10
Thrown straight in for his debut and involved in the goal with a great assist. Faded a little but showed plenty of promise. Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard
11. Lyle Foster - 7/10
Off the mark with a pinpoint header and denied a second by the foot of the post. Getting off the mark for the season will do him the world of good. Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard
12. SUB: Jeremy Sarmiento - 6/10
For Hannibal, 71 Created one opportunity but didn’t see much of the ball during his cameo against a well-organised Rovers backline. Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard
