Burnley Miners football violence: 23 charged

Police launched an investigation after trouble erupted in the Plumbe Street club following Burnley’s game with Sheffield Wednesday, on Saturday, January 18th.

The violence broke out about 6pm and left a window at the club smashed and other damage, including broken furniture.

It is estimated that in total between 45 to 60 people were involved in the fracas.

Those charged are: Stephen Rimmer (54), of Gale Street, Rochdale; Ian Spencer (52), of Wren Street, Burnley; Gareth Bromley (37), Weldon Street, Burnley; Gavin Ellacott (21), Burnley Road, Colne; Terry Wall (18), Creswick Avenue, Burnley; Paul Higginson (38), Lawrence Street, Padiham; Simon Massey (49) Avondale Road, Nelson; Michael Harrison (36), Brunshaw Road, Burnley; Jordan Burnley (21), Emily Street, Burnley; Stephen Burnley (39), Emily Street, Burnley; Jordan Hosker (26), Morse Street, Burnley; Mark Butler (23), Deerpark Road, Burnley; Nicholas Speak (35), Holly Street, Burnley; Andrew Rigg (50), Paythorne Avenue, Burnley; Lee Tattersall (33), Bluebell Grove, Burnley; Alexander Dean (23), Mary Towneley Fold, Burnley; Tony Holgate (42), Tabor Street, Burnley; Anthony Speak (33), Lower Tentre, Burnley; Chris Ashton (18), Garsdale Avenue, Burnley; Timothy Wilkinson (63), Sowclough Road, Bacup; Andrew Hardman (31), Fairlfield Avenue, Waterfoot; Phillip Palmer (29), Langdale Road, Padiham and 16-year-old from Barrowford.

They are all charged with violent disorder and have been bailed to appear at Burnley Magistrates’ Court week commencing April 7th.

Police are still appealing for information to identify the men pictured as they are believed to have been involved. Anyone with information should contact the police on 101.
