Scott Parker enjoyed a dream first game in charge of the Clarets as his side navigated a potentially tricky trip to Kenilworth Road in emphatic style, putting the Hatters to the sword with a 4-1 win.
Unsurprisingly there were a number of impressive individual performances and one Burnley man has subsequently been named in the EFL’s combined team of the week.
The team is based on ratings provided by WhoScored.com and comprises the top performers across the Championship, League One and League Two.
Here’s the team in full:

9. Luke Molyneux (Doncaster) - 9.39 rating
Doncaster opened up their League Two season with a resounding 4-1 home win over Accrington, with winger Luke Molyneux the star performer for the Rovers. The 26-year-old was directly involved in three of Doncaster's four goals, netting with two of four shots and providing one assist from two key passes. An additional two dribbles saw Molyneux land a WhoScored.com rating of 9.24. Photo: Ed Sykes

10. Duncan Watmore (Millwall) - 8.43 rating
Despite his side falling to a last-gasp defeat against Watford on Saturday, Millwall’s Duncan Watmore gave the Lions a chance of securing the points themselves when he scored twice in the space of 14 minutes late in the second half. To go with his goals, the 30-year-old also made three key passes and three successful dribbles. Photo: Paul Harding

11. Josh Maja (West Brom) - 9.53 rating
After bagging a hat-trick in West Brom’s opening win at QPR on Saturday, Josh Maja is our EFL Player of the Week. The 25-year-old equalised for the Baggies on 26 minutes, before adding his second and third goals of the afternoon shortly after half-time; what’s more, Maja found the net with all three of his attempts on goal.
