Burnley go top after Gray double sees off Bolton

Burnley fell behind with 20 minutes remaining as David Jones was dispossessed by Darren Pratley, who found substitute Gary Madine, and he rolled the ball across goal for Liam Feeney to turn in at the far post.

But the Clarets again showed they have the strongest chin in the division.

Gray levelled four minutes later as Matt Lowton slung over a low cross, and though Paul Rachubka pulled off a stunning save, the Championship's top scorer lifted the loose ball over the keeper.

And 11 minutes later, Fredrik Ulvestad, with his first touch after coming on as a substitute, lifted the ball over the top for Gray, who went clear and finished unerringly.

Burnley had to thank Tom Heaton for clawing the ball out of the top corner at the death, as a defender inadvertently flicked on a Feeney free kick, but the Clarets held out to go top.

Neither keeper was otherwise tested in a tense game.

In the first half, Josh Vela flashed a volley across the face of goal from a Feeney cross, while George Boyd's shot was deflected wide of the near post by Rob Holding.

Wanderers started the second period the better and deserved their lead, but Burnley did what they do, found a way to win, to leapfrog Hull at the top
