Ref that oversaw penalty shootout cup win to officiate Lincoln City v Burnley
Everything you need to know about Lincoln City v Burnley referee
Burnley make a first trip to Sincil Bank in 27 years this weekend when they look to get back to winning ways against Lincoln City.
Nicky Hayen’s side failed to build on their 4-0 thumping of Watford after the international break, picking up just one point from back-to-back home games.
Not only did it see the Clarets drop back into the Championship’s bottom three, it stretched the club’s winless home league run to an entire calendar year.
On Saturday they face a Lincoln side that sit four points ahead of them in 18th, with the Imps coming into the game off the back of a 2-2 draw with Millwall.
Who is the referee for Lincoln v Burnley?
Thomas Parsons, from Rochdale.
He’s overseen 12 games so far this season, dishing out 52 yellow cards and three reds.
Looking back to last term, he took charge of 36 games, handing out 119 yellows - at an average of 3.3 per game - and five reds.
Parsons was rewarded with the League Two play-off semi-final second leg between Notts County and Chesterfield back in May, which ended 0-0.
Parsons was unable to finish the game at Meadow Lane, however, hobbling off with an injury three minutes from time.
He began officiating at National League North level in the 2017/18 season before earning promotion to the National League, where he gained valuable experience across several seasons.
Parsons stepped up to the EFL from the 2022/23 season, taking charge of League Two and League One fixtures, before officiating his first two Championship fixtures back in April.
In addition to his EFL duties, he has also gained experience officiating in the Women’s Super League and various cup competitions.
What history does he have with Burnley?
The only other game involving Burnley Parsons has taken charge of came back in August, when he was the man in the middle for Burnley’s Carabao Cup tie with Notts County in their season opener.
The Clarets edged into the second round via a penalty shootout, following a 1-1 draw during the 90 minutes.
He showed a yellow card to Zian Flemming in injury time, as well as booking two Notts County players.
Who are the other officials?
Alistair Nelson and Jonathan Block will run the line, while Oliver Langford is fourth official.
