Lincoln City v Burnley: Team news, predicted teams and TV details
Everything you need to know ahead of Lincoln City v Burnley
Burnley head back onto the road after back-to-back disappointments on home turf.
The Clarets extended their winless league run at Turf Moor to over a year last week by failing to beat either Charlton Athletic or Wolves.
Nicky Hayen’s side were denied three points by a painful last-gasp equaliser against Charlton first up, before squandering the lead to lose 2-1 to Wolves after two inexplicable defensive mistakes.
It saw Burnley drop back into the Championship’s bottom three, only serving to increase even more pressure on Hayen, who has won just one of his first 11 league games.
Today they take on a Lincoln side that sit 18th and four points ahead of the dropzone, following last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Millwall.
Here’s all the important information ahead of today’s fixture:
When and where is the game taking place?
The match is being held at Lincoln’s Sincil Bank stadium on Saturday, October 24. Kick off is at 3pm.
Is it on TV?
No, the game falls behind the UK’s Saturday 3pm blackout.
How else can I follow the game?
Burnley FC writer Matt Scrafton will be providing live updates on his X feed, followed by a match report, post-match reaction and further analysis on the Burnley Express’ website.
What’s the latest team news?
Burnley have been dealt another major injury blow ahead of today’s game, with the news that both Jacob Bruun Larsen and Jamie Vardy will both be unavailable.
Bruun Larsen is facing 10-12 weeks on the sidelines with a stress fracture, while Vardy is out with back pain.
On a slightly more positive note, there’s a slim chance Josh Cullen could make his return after 10 months out, as long as he comes through his 45 minutes for the Under-21s on Friday night.
Anel Ahmedhodzic continues to serve concussion protocol, but should be back to face Portsmouth next week.
Ben Amos, Jordan Beyer, Bashir Humphreys, Shurandy Sambo, Hannibal, Aaron Ramsey, Jaydon Banel, Mike Tresor, Zeki Amdouni, Ashley Barnes and Michael Obafemi are all unavailable.
As for Lincoln, Deji Elerewe is available after having his red card against Millwall rescinded, but Tom Hamer and Freddie Draper are both suspended, while Mason Melia is out injured.
Nicky Hayen’s pre-match comments
“They play quite direct and have a lot of physicality with set-pieces, throw-ins, free-kicks but also their direct style of play, so we have to be aware of that.
“But still, there will be possibilities and we have to deliver the same quality like we did the first 35 minutes [against Wolves] because if we do this, we can hurt everyone.
“But if we fall back to an average level like we did the last 60 minutes, then it becomes difficult.
“But what I said, we start the week positive and this is the mindset that we want to show Saturday.”
What are the predicted teams?
Lincoln: Wickens, Coubis, Elerewe, Bradley, Reach, Konak, Varfolomeev, Ogbene, Jefferies, Street, Ladefoged
Burnley: Coudert, Walker, Ekdal, Igor, Pires, Alleyne, Hatate, Laurent, Edwards, Ramazani, Broja
Who is the referee?
Thomas Parsons. He’s overseen 12 games so far this season, dishing out 53 yellow cards and three reds. He took charge of Burnley’s Carabao Cup tie with Notts County in their season opener in August. Oliver Langford is fourth official.
