Latest next Burnley manager odds as price slashed for ex-Tottenham man

Burnley remain on the lookout for a permanent manager

It’s now almost a month since Scott Parker parted ways with Burnley.

It’s been another miserable season in the Premier League for Burnley, who finished the campaign in 19th place with just 22 points to their name.

Heading back to the Championship, chairman Alan Pace and Burnley’s board are now tasked with identifying the new man.

Their objective will be simple: get the Clarets back to the Premier League at the first attempt, just as they did under Vincent Kompany and Parker.

Writing in his programme notes for Burnley’s final day game against Wolves, Pace revealed the club are “undertaking a thorough and considered process” for a new boss.

It’s understood a shortlist of names has now been whittled down to around 10 potential candidates.

Steven Gerrard immediately shot straight to the top of the bookies’ odds when the market was opened after Parker’s departure, but that speculation has since been played down.

It’s understood the club are willing to take their time over the appointment and are keen to get the structure right behind the scenes before a new man is installed.

Burnley are also said to be admirers of Cardiff City boss Brian Barry-Murphy, who led the Bluebirds to automatic promotion from League One this season.

While Burnley’s former assistant Craig Bellamy remains high in the betting, it’s understood he’s happy to remain with Wales with a potential home European Championship on the horizon.

Former Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustace, now at Derby County, has also been linked as a potential candidate, while ex-Tottenham striker Robbie Keane has seen his odds slashed in recent days.

The Irishman has recently resigned from his role with Hungarian side Ferencvaros, but has also been linked with the post with Celtic, another of his former sides.
