Fresh Burnley injury update ahead of Wolves as Anel Ahmedhodzic sidelined

Anel Ahmedhodzic sidelined as he serves concussion protocol

Burnley will be without Anel Ahmedhodzic for their next two games as the defender serves concussion protocol.

The defender was forced to trudge off in a groggy-looking manner towards the end of Burnley’s midweek draw with Charlton, following a heavy clash with his own goalkeeper Gregoire Coudert.

As a result, the former Sheffield United man will be missing for Friday night’s clash against Wolves, as well as next week’s trip to Lincoln City.

“He has a concussion, so he will be out for the protocol for 12 days,” Nicky Hayen revealed.

“It's another disappointment of course, but okay we have to accept it and we have to be ready for the game tomorrow.

“Now it's for other players to take their chance. They're waiting and working hard for their chance so now they have to step up.

“We have the option with Max [Alleyne] or with Hjalmar [Ekdal], so we have the options so we have to make the best choice.”

Hayen also revealed Dastan Satpayev will be back involved after Chelsea stopped him from featuring against the Addicks in midweek, with the Kazakh international continuing to have his minutes managed by his parent club on his return from injury.

The 18-year-old, however, won’t be able to play the full 90 minutes.

“If you play three games in one week, you have to be careful with the load so that he doesn't get injured,” Hayen added.

“But unfortunately it was that we could need him against Charlton but that's the way it goes. But he's back in the selection for tomorrow's game but again with the restricted minutes.”

Elsewhere, Josh Cullen and Jaydon Banel are both nearing a return, but tomorrow night’s clash against Wolves - where Burnley will be hoping to win a home league game for the first time in a year - will come too soon.

Hayen revealed: “They trained today. Next week they have a normal training week and then they can be back in the selection.

“Three players are actually coming back or two, Ashley Barnes also, but he's not in the squad list.

“But it's important also for the group in terms of mentality and culture so we're looking forward to having them back.”

Ben Amos, Jordan Beyer, Bashir Humphreys, Shurandy Sambo, Hannibal, Aaron, Ramsey, Mike Tresor, Michael Obafemi and Zeki Amdouni also remain unavailable.
