Dastan Satpayev injury blow confirmed for Burnley after Bristol City absence

Dastan Satpayev ruled out for ‘weeks’ with injury blow

Dastan Satpayev is facing “weeks” on the sidelines for Burnley after picking up and injury.

The Chelsea loanee has been the standout performer for the Clarets so far this season and was a big miss during Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Bristol City.

The 18-year-old was subbed off during the final stages of Wednesday night’s game against Middlesbrough and was seen clutching his hamstring.

Speaking after Saturday’s game, Burnley boss Nicky Hayen confirmed the Kazakhstan international had picked up an injury.

“Yes, he will be out for a few weeks, unfortunately,” he confirmed.

“It's one of the signs. Like I said, he had a pre-season but not a proper pre-season. We try to push players, try to protect them, and you just have to find that real good balance.”

Hayen then went on to reveal that Hannibal also looked to have suffered a problem on Saturday, despite only coming on as a late substitute.

The midfielder was seen receiving medical attention on the pitch at full time and was holding ice to his hamstring.

“Again, you saw Hannibal having a small injury and this is the situation now,” Hayen added.

“If you don't have the fitness…we don't have to blame anyone, it's just the situation how it is.”

Hayen was defending his decision to make six changes to his side for the defeat to Bristol City, which saw Burnley drop to the bottom of the Championship table.

The likes of Connor Roberts, Anel Ahmedhodzic and Jacob Bruun Larsen were all dropped to the bench, as the Burnley boss manages their minutes.

“I rather want to play with the same players, of course,” he said. “If you have three games [in a week], maybe you change one game and some numbers.

“But you just see that everyone is in a difficult situation now and we try to keep everyone involved, everyone fresh.”

While Lucas Pires will return from concussion in time for Tuesday’s trip to Wrexham, Burnley still have Jordan Beyer, Bashir Humphreys, Josh Cullen, Enock Agyei, Jaydon Banel and Ashley Barnes all on the sidelines.
