Late win at Burnley no smash and grab, says Bristol City boss
Bristol City boss Michael Skubala on his side’s late win at Burnley
Despite their late goals, Michael Skubala believes Bristol City’s win over Burnley was far from a “smash and grab”.
The Robins struck twice during the last eight minutes to claim a 2-1 victory at Turf Moor to pile on further misery to the Clarets.
Nicky Hayen’s side took a second-half lead when Aaron Ramsey struck home in emphatic fashion, bagging his first league goal for the club.
But Rob Dickie headed home an 82nd-minute equaliser, before substitute Yu Hirakawa drilled home a winner in the final minute of normal time.
“I thought the game had everything,” Skubala said. "The lads were great.
“I thought in the first half, they didn't cause us too many problems. Second half, we tweaked a few things, we came out, and I thought we were the stronger team.
“Of course, they scored when they opened us up - we knew they could do that because they have top quality players in their team.
“But I thought they scored against the run of play. It was a good goal, but it was one moment. I didn’t feel as though they were hurting us. They opened us up once, but other than that I thought we were the ones knocking on the door.
“But after that, I thought we looked really good and [were] the team that was in the ascendancy. After they scored, I thought we would go on to do what we did.
“We got our goal, I thought we were the ones that could go on and win it and we did that.
“For me, it wasn't a smash and grab, we deserved to win and I think that's great when we get it over the line.”
