Burnley man provides damning verdict on 'horrendous' Premier League campaign

Connor Roberts provides damning indictment of Burnley’s Premier League campaign

Connor Roberts has provided a blunt verdict on Burnley’s Premier League campaign, labelling it as “horrendous” and “not good enough”.

The Clarets will line up back in the Championship next season after enduring another nightmare season in the top flight.

Burnley amassed just four wins and 22 points under Scott Parker, who paid the price in April when he departed by mutual consent.

While the Clarets avoided bottom spot with a final day draw against Wolves, where Roberts returned from a long-term injury to be named on the bench, the Welshman still refused to mince his words.

“The last three Premier League seasons I’ve been injured for a long, long time,” he told Burnley’s Keeping The Faith documentary on X.

“I’ve been at this club for quite a while now, longer than the majority of people in this building and I’ve seen lots of change.

“Hundreds of players come and go, different managers, plenty of different staff and in moments like this you just have to reflect on the things you have achieved and you have done that have been good.

“We’ve had some fantastic seasons and, this one included, some really poor ones. It’s been horrendous, it’s been not good enough from every single person in this building and the only way you can put that in the distant memory is by what you do next and how we all react to what’s happened.

“It will be interesting to see the ones that get on with it, keep smiling and keep trying and keep fighting for what they think is right.

“Hopefully next year is a good season.”
