Burnley's interest in Lille's Ugo Raghouber discussed by Nicky Hayen
Nicky Hayen discusses Burnley’s interest in Ugo Raghouber
Nicky Hayen has admitted it’s a "possibility" Burnley will sign French midfielder Ugo Raghouber.
The Clarets have been strongly linked with a move for the 23-year-old Lille man, who spent last season on loan in Spain with Levante.
A defensive midfielder, Raghouber appears to be a direct replacement for Florentino Luis, who looks to be on his way to Premier League newcomers Hull City.
Speaking after today’s friendly against Ajax, Hayen told the Burnley Express he was hopeful movement on the incoming front was imminent - possibly before Wednesday’s game against Espanyol.
When asked if that player in question could be Raghouber, Burnley’s head coach said: “That's a possibility. We have a list with a lot of players.
“What's most important, we really want players who are dedicated to come to Burnley, who want to play for promotion, who want to show it on the pitch every single day. First on the training ground, but also in the stadium.
“We want to delight the fans, not by speaking the words, but by showing the performances. This is what we actually want to do.”
On the potential of new signings arriving before Burnley’s next friendly on Wednesday night, Hayen added: “Possible, maybe.
“Like I said before in the interview, we're working really hard behind the scenes, and this is what we keep on doing on and off the pitch, with the management and really good and open communication.
“So everything we can do, we will do, but step by step.”
